Meet the Suncatchers
These are the cats who make up Suncatcher Sanctuary. Each one has their own story, spark, and special way of shining.
Some bios are still being lovingly built. Thank you for your patience while we tell their stories with care.
Some Suncatchers are part of our Sunset Care program, which provides hospice support focused on comfort, dignity, and love.

Orion
Orion survived a traumatic attack that left him paralyzed, but his gentle spirit has always remained intact.
As the first paralyzed cat welcomed into Suncatcher Sanctuary, Orion holds a deeply special place in our hearts. We made up a song for him, which makes him roll over and offer his belly, making daily care easier and filled with trust. A natural nurturer, Orion has taken on the role of big brother, greeting new cats with patience and warmth while forming close bonds with the younger residents. His soulful eyes and quiet strength continue to inspire us every day.

Kona
At just 4.5 pounds with a surprisingly big meow, Kona is the smallest Suncatcher with one of the loudest voices.
Found as a stray and rescued by a kind-hearted hotel employee, Kona arrived with early injuries and cerebellar hypoplasia that affect her mobility. Over time, she has grown stronger and more confident in her movements. Kona enjoys her meals in her personal cat cave, where she can eat in peace. Though she may be wobbly, her determination and sweet personality make her impossible not to love.

Lala
Chatty, curious, and full of personality, Lala has blossomed into one of the most expressive voices in the sanctuary.
Visually impaired and naturally reserved, Lala loves being where the action is, especially on the desk where important work is happening. She often answers when her name is called and enjoys offering her own input, sometimes in the form of mysterious keyboard commands or creative additions to emails. Though once shy, Lala has grown into a gentle communicator whose soft chatter and presence bring warmth and quiet joy to everyday moments.

Kiki
Visually impaired like his sister, Lala, Kiki moves through the world with a calm, dreamlike presence.
Kiki is not always the most coordinated, but he approaches each day with patience and ease. He bravely overcame FIP and continues to thrive, taking everything in stride. Known for his deep, peaceful naps and expressive dream-filled sleep, Kiki seems to carry an entire inner world within him. His relaxed nature and steady companionship make him a comforting presence throughout the sanctuary.

Rolo
A natural peacemaker, Rolo brings a steady calm to the sanctuary and gets along with everyone he meets.
Rolo arrived after facing several early health challenges, all of which he has worked through with quiet resilience. Over time, his strength and coordination have improved, and he has settled into life with ease. While he is not the most outgoing cat, Rolo shows affection in thoughtful ways, often greeting those he trusts by gently rubbing against their legs. His gentle presence and playful moments make him a deeply loved part of the Suncatcher family.

Sienna
Quiet and graceful, Sienna brings a deep sense of calm wherever she rests.
Rescued from Lebanon by the same team who helped Aiko, Sienna survived extreme cruelty after being thrown from a fifth-floor apartment when she was discovered to be pregnant. The fall left her paralyzed, and none of her kittens survived. Despite this, Sienna carries herself with remarkable composure. She is reserved and deeply bonded with Aiko, her closest companion, yet she welcomes others to nap beside her, sharing her warmth and peaceful presence. Sienna’s strength lives in her stillness, and her quiet resilience speaks volumes.

Ocean
Bright, playful, and full of joy, Ocean radiates happiness wherever he goes.
Found as a stray with severe eye issues, Ocean ultimately lost both of his eyes, but he adapted quickly and confidently to his new world. Friendly from the start, he made fast friends and jumped straight into playtime, especially when crinkle toys are involved. The sound alone sends him into joyful pouncing mode.
Ocean also takes food very seriously. His hearing is impressively sharp, and any quiet trip to the kitchen will be detected immediately. When he is not playing or investigating snacks, Ocean is a devoted cuddle companion and an expert napper. He insists on sleeping right beside you and is always the last to wake, perfectly content and completely at ease. Ocean is a perfect blend of mischief, affection, and warmth.

Miss Teapot
Soft, serene, and always where the sunlight lands, Miss Teapot lives life at a gentle, golden pace.
Miss Teapot’s journey almost ended before it truly began. After being surrendered to a shelter, she was scheduled for euthanasia until a compassionate staff member stepped in at the last possible moment. Her facial swelling, once alarming, was later diagnosed as dermatitis, a condition common in cats of her breed and now lovingly managed with daily care.
You can usually find her perched on the kitchen counter, basking in the sun as it slowly spills in, looking perfectly at peace. Miss Teapot is calm, content, and endlessly gentle.
She is the definition of a soft landing, a reminder that sometimes saving a life looks like sunlight, routine, and a human who doesn’t mind a little extra care.

Neptune
Neptune carries the strength of a cat who has lived fully and now savors each peaceful moment.
Found as a senior stray, Neptune was brought to the shelter with a microchip that no one answered for. His faded collar line and loving nature suggest he once had a home, and when no rescue stepped forward, he became part of our Sunset Care Program.
Neptune has cauliflower ears from years of untreated infections and lives with a severe heart condition. What he needs most now is comfort, routine, and a safe place to rest.
He spends his days stretched out in favorite spots and becomes especially affectionate at night, leaning into cuddles. Neptune reminds us that love and belonging still matter deeply, no matter where someone is in their journey.

Moose
Playful, bold, and endlessly social, Moose is the jester of the sanctuary and a favorite both in person and online.
Known as the leader of mischief, Moose has a way of drawing cats into his playful world, quickly becoming the ringleader of their adventures. He adores visitors and thrives on attention, always ready to greet new friends with enthusiasm. Moose has a distinctive head tilt and a slightly shaky left eye due to nystagmus, but neither slows him down. A natural poser with undeniable charm, he proudly maintains a modeling career and frequently steals the spotlight on our social media pages.

Pepe
Affectionate and endlessly cheerful, Pepe brings instant joy wherever he goes.
Rescued as a stray and later arriving at Suncatcher Sanctuary, Pepe didn’t waste a moment settling in. Despite losing one eye and having limited vision in the other, he moves through life with confidence and enthusiasm. From day one, he bonded quickly with the other boys, especially Moose, who happily welcomed him into the ranks of mischief. Pepe is a cuddler at heart and loves being held, often climbing onto people to make sure it happens. A lifelong belly-up sleeper, Pepe’s relaxed trust is a sweet reminder of how safe and loved he is here.

Wilbur
With impossibly long whiskers and an easygoing presence, Wilbur is equal parts elegance and charm.
Wilbur was found crying outside an apartment building while still wearing his pink strawberry-print collar, a small detail that made his story impossible to forget. He arrived with several medical challenges affecting his eyes, which required surgery and ongoing care. He also has FLUTD and needs regular monitoring and attentive management to keep him comfortable and healthy, including more frequent veterinary visits than most cats.
With consistency and support, Wilbur has grown into a striking black-and-white cat with long whiskers and an even bigger personality. Wilbur’s warmth, sociability, and need for continued medical oversight are part of what make him such a perfect fit for sanctuary life.

Blanche
Blanche is a hospice resident whose days are centered on comfort, love, and dignity.
Blanche was found as a stray and arrived with a severe eye infection that required her left eye to be removed, along with extensive dental care. She is part of our Sunset Care Program, where the focus is comfort, consistency, and love during life’s final chapter.
Blanche is calm, observant, and never demanding. She has a gentle meow and a proud little strut, often appearing just in time for meals or a tender head scratch. Her presence is subtle but grounding, and she reminds us why patience and dignity matter.

Starla
Starla is playful, independent, and full of spirit, happiest when exploring life on her own terms.
Starla came to the shelter as a kitten with her littermates, and a staff noticed she was unable to fully extend her back legs. When she arrived and began settling in, she was slowly introduced to the other cats and formed an immediate, unbreakable bond with Wilbur.
Despite her leg differences, Starla can sprint surprisingly fast and loves to play. She has always carried herself like an old soul, calm, observant, and completely unbothered by the chaos around her.
Starla does everything on her own terms and exactly her own way. With Wilbur by her side, she is perfectly content, playful, and deeply at home.

Sofia
Once deeply fearful of people, Sofia has slowly blossomed into a cat who now greets guests and shines in her unique way.
Sofia came to the sanctuary after being shot with a BB gun, an injury that left her paralyzed. When she first arrived, she kept her distance from everyone, and made it clear she did not want to be touched.
Over the years, Sofia has slowly and steadily changed. She now asks for affection from those she trusts and will even approach unfamiliar visitors. Sofia is a reminder of why this sanctuary exists, and how consistency, patience, and love pays off.

Millie
Soft and shy, Millie’s deep love reveals itself to those who take the time to notice.
Millie came to the sanctuary after a kind couple searched for a safe, permanent place where she could feel secure. Born with microphthalmia in both eyes, Millie experiences the world differently and prefers a calm, familiar environment. She is naturally shy observe quietly from her favorite spots.
When she wants attention, Millie surprises everyone with her adorable and unexpectedly loud little meow, happily accepting gentle affection. Though she takes time to warm up, those lucky enough to earn her trust are rewarded with a sweet lap nap and a peaceful presence. Millie reminds us that some cats do not need to be seen everywhere to be deeply loved.

Bibi
Bold, clever, and full of personality, Bibi approaches life with confidence and flair.
Found as a stray with severe infections in both eyes, Bibi ultimately lost her vision, but she never lost her spark. From the start, she had a bit of spice to her, and over time that sass softened into a unique blend of confidence and sweetness. She settled into sanctuary life on her own terms and made it clear she was here to live fully.
Bibi is famously the only cat who uses the exercise wheel exactly as intended, often hopping on before mealtime as if warming up for dinner. She also loves her ball tower track and plays with it with impressive focus. Rather than relying solely on her nose, Bibi navigates the world by confidently reaching out with her paws, tapping her way toward food, toys, or unsuspecting humans. And then there is her signature feature: a big, fluffy tail she carries high like a victory flag, announcing her presence long before she arrives.

Bremen
At 18 lbs of pure softness, Bremen is our resident gentle giant cuddle bear.
Bremen arrived in June 2024 after being returned to the shelter more than a year after his original adoption. As a kitten, he recovered from swimmer’s syndrome and was born with microphthalmia in both eyes. After his return, he was diagnosed with a grade 4/6 heart murmur and cardiomyopathy, conditions that require ongoing monitoring.
Even with his medical needs, Bremen remains incredibly calm and affectionate. He is soft in every sense of the word and has no interest in conflict or chaos. Being near him feels grounding and peaceful. He prefers quiet, tucked-away spots for naps but will sometimes stretch out in the sun or roll in the dirt like it is a personal spa day.
Bremen is beautiful inside and out, and he represents everything this sanctuary stands for. He is living proof that gentleness can exist in the biggest bodies and that every cat, regardless of their challenges, deserves safety, patience, and love.

Boop
Boop moves through the world with a joyful bounce that makes it impossible not to smile.
Boop arrived at the shelter with her littermates, where staff noticed her head tremors and exaggerated gait and determined she has cerebellar hypoplasia. While she was thriving socially, it became clear she could not reliably use a litter box, which put her at risk for euthanasia. That is when we were called.
Boop is pure happiness in cat form. She prances from place to place, runs with enthusiasm, and carries an energy that lifts everyone around her.
When she finally slows down, Boop loves to birdwatch and recharge before her next burst of joy. She is a perfect example of how special needs do not limit a cat’s ability to live fully and happily.

Aiko
With an unforgettable face and effortless charm, Aiko is one of those cats people recognize instantly and never forget.
Originally from Lebanon, Aiko survived severe cruelty after being shot multiple times with a BB gun, an experience that left him paralyzed. Affectionate and expressive, he loves close contact and will wrap his arms around those he trusts. A spinal cord injury prevents him from blinking his left eye, giving him a constant wink that adds to his unique presence. Often featured on our social media, Aiko’s resilience and warmth have made him a beloved part of the sanctuary.

Evie
Fearless and full of curiosity, Evie approaches the world like one big adventure.
Evie lost both of her eyes after being surrendered for medical care, but nothing about her spirit was diminished in the process. From day one, she made it clear that she is a social butterfly with endless enthusiasm. Curious and confident, Evie loves climbing trees and listening to the birds, always knowing exactly how to find her way back down.
Evie also has a deep appreciation for being brushed, happily soaking up the attention her sleek black coat deserves. With her bold heart and affectionate nature, Evie brings joy, movement, and a spark of mischief wherever she goes.

Berry
Opinionated, and unmistakably herself, Berry brings the right amount of spice.
Born with a congenital deformity that gives her bowed back legs and a signature strut, Berry moves through the world in her own distinctive way. Nothing about her slows her down. Her greatest joy is boxes and cat tunnels, which she treats like a personal invitation to investigate.
Berry prefers solo time high up in the cat tree, where her unique little body allows her to relax in positions that defy logic. She arrived with plenty of sass and a clear sense of boundaries, but over time, a softer side has begun to emerge. Berry connects on her own terms, often by carefully sniffing faces and hands as if deciding whether you pass her personal vibe check. She is proof that sweetness and attitude can coexist, and that every basket needs its sour berry.

Joyce
Joyce survived against the odds and determined to live her golden years in her own way.
Joyce is part of our Sunset Care Program and came to us severely emaciated, dehydrated, and battling stage four kidney disease. With daily fluids, syringe feedings, and steady support, she slowly regained strength and, just as importantly, her personality.
Joyce is unapologetically independent. However, on rare occasions, she surprises us with a fleeting moment of sweetness, which feels like winning the lottery.
Most days, she rules from her favorite cat cave, resting comfortably and on her own terms. Joyce reminds us that love does not have to look soft to be real.

Leo
Leo is the kind of cat who meets uncertainty with softness and unwavering affection.
Leo was surrendered to the shelter after his family learned he had kidney issues and could not afford his medical care. X-rays revealed an enlarged kidney, and with no rescue stepping forward, he was at risk for euthanasia. We chose to take on his care.
We are still working to understand the full picture of his kidney disease and chronic digestive issues. What has always been clear is Leo’s gentle nature and deep desire for connection.
Leo loves head rubs and will happily roll over for affection, soaking up every moment of attention. His sweetness is constant and unguarded, reminding us that even in the middle of uncertainty, love can be simple and sincere.
