Berry joined Suncatcher Sanctuary in January 2024 after being rescued as a stray through the Yuma Purr Project. She was born with a congenital deformity—her back legs are bowed, giving her a unique silhouette and an unmistakably Berry-esque strut. But don’t be fooled—this special feature doesn’t hold her back one bit.
Her absolute favorite thing in the world? Boxes. Big ones, little ones, ones with tunnels, ones with crinkly paper inside—Berry is all about that unboxing experience. Every time a gift from our wish list arrives, she zooms right in like it’s Christmas morning.
Berry’s idea of the perfect day includes solo time up in the cat tree, where she loves to quite literally “hang out.” Her distinctive little body lets her lounge in positions we didn’t even know were possible.
Now, let’s talk about that name—Berry. Why Berry? Well, you know how there's always that one sour berry hiding in a pack of sweet ones? That’s her. She came in with a bit of sass, a touch of attitude, and a don’t-mess-with-me vibe that made us laugh. But over time, the sweet side started to peek out. It’s slow, it’s subtle, but it’s real.
She has her own way of connecting—by thoroughly sniffing your hands and face, almost like she's reading your intentions. Berry isn’t swayed by anyone else's energy, and she doesn't try to be anything she’s not. She's proof that sweetness and sass can absolutely coexist—and that even the sourest berry belongs in the basket.
