Frequently asked questions

Where is Suncatcher Sanctuary located? Can I visit?

We are operating in Phoenix, AZ! Because we house our beloved Suncatchers in a private residence, we cannot allow public access to ensure the privacy and safety of both the cats and their caretaker. Our dream is to one day have a dedicated facility where we can host events and provide opportunities for people to socialize with our amazing special needs cats.

We would love your support in turning this vision into reality. Please consider becoming a monthly donor to help us create a space where everyone can enjoy the company of our Suncatchers. Become a monthly donor here.

Thank you for understanding and for your support!

Do you have any cats available for adoption or foster?

We are a sanctuary-based rescue, and generally do not conduct adoptions or have a foster program. All cats who enter our safe haven will be taken care of with love and respect throughout their lifetime.

That being said, we can never predict the cats who we may cross paths with. There may be exceptions and adopt cats out depending on the situation from time to time. For adoptions, we follow the standard protocol of an application, interview, home check, and charge an adoption fee.

I need to surrender my cat/ I found a stray cat. Will you accept the cat?

At this time, we are not accepting cats from the public, including owner surrenders or found strays as we focus our intakes from the local humane society and shelters who may otherwise be at risk for euthanasia.
We understand how heartbreaking and overwhelming it can be to care for a cat with special needs or to find a stray in need of help.
For possible support, we recommend contacting local shelters and rescue organizations who may have partnerships or foster networks better equipped for intake.

My special needs cat needs temporary housing. Can you help?

While we are unable to provide temporary housing for your cat, Arizona Humane Society may be able to help!

Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide financial assistance for veterinary care. Here are a list of organizations that may be able to help:

  • The Pet Fund: Provides financial assistance for non-urgent veterinary care.

  • RedRover: Offers grants for emergency veterinary care and other critical needs.

  • CareCredit: A credit card specifically for medical expenses, including veterinary care.

  • Maricopa County Animal Care & Control: A comprehensive list of financial assistance resources for pet owners.
