Neptune joined us in March 2025, just in time.

We received a plea from the Humane Society about a senior cat who had been brought in as a stray. Though he had a microchip, his previous family never responded. His faded collar line and affectionate nature tell us he was once loved—and that love still lives inside him.

He was scheduled to be euthanized if no rescue stepped forward, so we brought him in on his final day.

Neptune has cauliflower ears from years of untreated ear infections, and a stage 6 heart murmur with an enlarged heart. In the beginning, he hardly ate, and he often coughed—likely due to his heart. But over time, with gentle care, meds, and a warm place to call home, we started to see small changes: a healthy appetite, quieter breathing, and a spark in his eyes.

His favorite spot is the kitchen counter, where he lounges like royalty, observing the room with quiet contentment. He’s not one to seek out feline friendships—but somehow, Moose earned his trust. Their quiet companionship is something truly special.

We’ll never know what happened to Neptune before he arrived at the shelter. But we do know this: he deserved more time, more love, and a soft place to land. And we’re honored to be that place for him.
